Have you ever wondered if you could do a boudoir session, but you're over 40 and think it's too late?
So many times I will be working a trade show, or meeting women in my day to day life, and they tell me how they could never do a boudoir session because they're too old. LADIES that's CRAZY. A boudoir session is literally for all women, including those over 40! Today I'm giving you my top 10 reasons why you should do a boudoir session over 40!! To help me out is the beautiful Miss E, who's age I won't reveal, but who helps me perfectly explain why you NEED to come in and do a session! #1: A boudoir session will change your life.
Yes, I say this all the time, so you've probably heard it before. But I say it because it's true. Coming in to do a boudoir session will legitimately CHANGE YOUR LIFE. You will walk into my studio as the woman you have always known yourself to be, you will walk out of my studio as a new woman, you will see a side of yourself you either never knew existed, or you forgot she was in there. If that's not a good enough reason in and of itself, I don't know what is. But I promised you ten reasons, so let's see the other nine and you can decide for yourself.
#2: It's nice to do something nice for yourself.
Okay stop whatever else you're doing besides reading this article and think for a minute - when was the last time you actually did something nice for yourself? No, I don't mean buying a new top at the mall, or getting your hair coloured, I mean something actually meaningfully nice for yourself? When was the last time you went to the spa, or took yourself on a date, or had a nice thought about yourself when you looked in the mirror? If you can't remember, it's been too long!
A boudoir session is a chance to spend a whole day on YOU and YOU deserve that. You have worked hard, provided for your family, moved up in your career, maybe changed careers, you've spent a lot of time working but when was the last time you worked for YOU. Doing a boudoir session is seriously like a spa day for your heart & soul. Who wouldn't like that?
#3: Now is the perfect time.
Think back on your life, what are some things you wished you would have done when you were younger? Climbed a mountain? Gone on that vacation? Asked for that better paying position? Looking back it's probably easy to see the things that you could have or should have done, and if you think a boudoir session is something you should have done when you were younger, I'm here to tell you that now is the perfect time. In 10, 15, even 20 years from now you're going to wish you would have done this now, so why not just go ahead and do it now? Your future self will thank you!
#4: Truthfully, you're probably more comfortable in your own skin now than ever before.
Your body has literally carried you through your entire life, you know every scar and why it's there, every stretch mark, every inch of your body has a story to tell, why not celebrate that? It's funny how you feel about your body before and after having kids. Once you've had them and everyone's essentially seen everything there is to see, you realize there's no shame in being human and trust me, a boudoir session is a million times easier than childbirth. If you think back to your twenties, is your mindset about your body different now than it was back then? You don't have anything to be ashamed of, so why not do a boudoir session to celebrate this amazing body you have!
#5: It's time you had a nice picture of yourself.
Okay how long have you gone through life hating every picture that's been taken of you? Isn't it time to change that? During your boudoir session I explain a bit of the psychology around photographs, and what's needed to capture a real, nice picture of you. Trust me, these photos will be some of, if not the best pictures you'll ever have of yourself. Something that in the future you can look back on and be proud of. Wouldn't that be a nice feeling, to see a picture of yourself and LOVE it?
#6: It's a gift he'll never, ever, ever forget.
Now, you don't need to be in a relationship AT ALL to come in and do a session, but if you are it will seriously be the best gift you'll ever give. It's on par with like a surprise trip to Europe - and even then I think a boudoir session wins! Especially if you've been married for a while, things can become very even keel, and if you want to spice it up a little bit, do something totally out of the blue and come in and do a session. I have so many amazing ways you can give your pictures as a gift that will knock his (or her) socks off! It might be just the thing you need to re-light that fire!
#7: Did I mention it's the ULTIMATE confidence booster?
Ladies, it's time we started APPRECIATING our bodies instead of putting ourselves down all the damn time! When you see how beautiful you look in your session, your confidence will skyrocket. Seriously, if your confidence was a line graph it would just be a straight line UP from the day of your session. Why wouldn't you want to feel like ten million bucks?
#8: It's an amazing excuse to update your lingerie wardrobe.
Okay, seriously when was the last time you bought a PRETTY bra? Yes, I am outing you - if you're still wearing your NURSING bra (you know who you are) it's time to go out and buy something SEXY. Yes, you can be SEXY, even over 40 - I know, it's a shocker, but it's true. When you're planning for your boudoir session, you have an amazing excuse to go out and buy that pretty bra, those lacy, racy panties, that incredible bustier you saw, that beautiful chemise you've always wanted. You can update your lingerie, and you know what, if you've got it in the closet, you're more likely to wear it more regularly than if you don't actually own it!! So get shopping ladies!
#9: You will look AMAZING in your pictures.
So many women tell me that they don't know how to pose, or they don't know how to be sexy, or they don't like having their picture taken. Ladies, I'm here to tell you that none of that matters. All you need to do is SHOW up to your session & bring your lingerie and I will take care of the rest. You will get a full day of YOU time - your hair & make-up will be done at the studio, I will pose you from your fingers to your toes, I will show you how to do absolutely everything. Literally, this will be the easiest day of your life! Don't believe me? Well, you get to come back the SAME day and view your photos so you can see right away how your photos turned out, and then I can say, "I told you so!"
